A couple a weeks ago my hubby and I decided we needed a datenight so not wanting to go to far from home we decided to go to Restaurant Gosp in Skodsborg.

The restaurant had been closed due to rebuilding a new floor. From outside the restaurant looks very cozy and welcoming.

We were greeted by a very sweet girl who gave us our table. We started out with a glass of bubbles and could enjoy the rustic feeling and warm atmosphere of the place and get a good look at the menu.

As one can see the food is mainly french I am not complaining. I chose to go for a main course and cheese and my partner in crime went straight for a starter and a main course.

The hubby had the foie gras which was no less than perfect and was nicely balanced with the pineapple.

I went for the braised porc belly with pickled lemons and coriander cous cous. A very solid and comforting dish with a freshness from the pickled lemons. the silky smooth sauce was gorgeous and the meat cooked to perfection.

Both dishes were done to perfection and paired with a full-bodied redwine I was already really liking Gosp.

Next dish for my hubby was confit de canard – duck roasted in duck fat with pears, ginger and a orange glace. The silence when devoured was speaking for itself so after having tasted it I agreed that it was right as it should be. Crisp, tender and fullflavoured. It was also paired with fennel which gave a lovely diversity to the dish.

I had cheese and as good as it tasted I would have loved for someone to tell me which cheeses I had. I asked the waiter but her only comment was ” oh gosh I never seem to be able to remember the names..” and then she left never to return…. So well the cheese was nice but it kind of killed it a bit not knowing what lovely cheese they were. They were paired with buckthorn and lovely walnuts which went very well with the cheese – whatever it was:-)
