Back in Denmark after a wonderful vacation in the tuscan lush green hills close to Castellina in Chianti. We stayed at an agriturisimo called Romitorio Di Serelle.

We flew to Rome and rented a car and drove the approximately 3 hours from Rome to Barberino Val D’esa which is the city the agriturisimo is closed to. I was more than excited when we drove up a small mountain on a dusty bumpy road. The view was spectacular and there were vines all over and everything was so gorgeous. When we arrived we were greeted by Roberto and Lorella. They were so friendly and made us feel at home right away. We met the dog Dotto, which the kids loved and Lorella showed us our apartment. It was lovely and the upstairs bedrooms and bathroom was amazing. The one bedroom was so big that we could all sleep in there since there was a double, and extra bed and also a baby crib. The downstairs kitchen was very small and during our holiday we found out that we should have asked for a bigger apartment. Furthermore the stairs in the apartment was not really compatible with a toddler, but we managed.

The apartment was very beautiful and clean. There is no doubt that the people behind Romitorio Di Serene are driven by passion for the place and a love for their guests.

The sourroundings of Romitorio Di Serelle is beyond beautiful. The lush green hills with vines everywhere dotted with luminous silverspots of olive groves . The beauty is breathtaking.

The Romitori Di Serelle is closed in by a natural wooden fence which makes it very child friendly. Within the wooden fence is a big blue cooling pool with lots of sunbeds and shady trees. Behind the pool is a nature playground.

There is also a lovely restaurant on site where you can have a more than fulfilling breakfast consisting of eggs, lovely little cakes, fresh fruit, bread, jam, honey, cheese and ham. From Wednedsday to Sunday they also serve dinner. It is a set menu of 4 courses. The dinner is local honest food and very tasty. The big plus is that they can serve it on your own terrace so the kids can sleep inside and you can be at rest sitting right outside dining and enjoying a glass of wine.

Every Wednesday there is a wine tasting which is fantastic. A very enthusiastic wineshop owner comes and tells about the wines he is selling. The tasting is held on the fantastic terrace with an amazing view over the rolling green hills. The tasting started at 18.00 so we had a little food issue with the youngest but we solved it by bringing juice and a big swinging pan of risotto to the winetasting. That was no problem for the others and the kids kept quiet eating and after eating they jumped around on the green areas behind the terrace. The Romitorio Di Serelle staff and manegement are so calm and they where ok with us bringing food to the wine tasting and bringing kids.

The cities close to Romitorio Di Serelle such as Castellina in Chianti and also Poggibonsi are very cozy and certainly worth a visit. Furthermore there is a lovely local restaurant on the way to Poggibonsi called La Sosta Di Pio which had amazing food.

The only downside with Romitorio Di Serelle is that some of the apartments are to small kitchenwise and the kitchens could have better utensils. A foodie like myself missed a good frying pan, some good knives etc. Also it would have been great with a barbecue somewhere so it was possible to make a real seared Bistecca Fiorentina.

But in all Romitorio Di Serelle is a little slice of heaven and we will without doubt come back. The kids have great memories. Roberto, Marco and Lorella are amazing passionate people with a good understanding of visitors need for privacy but also for service concerning tours and ideas for restaurants.

I can only recommend visiting Romitorio Di Serelle – You will no regret it:-)
